The Easiest Way to Get YouTube Video Data in 2024

How to Find YouTube Data for Your Own Videos

YouTube stores very detailed information for each of your videos that you can find in the YouTube Studio app or website.

When first entering the YouTube Studio app or website you’ll be greeted with a general dashboard that shows you some data about your latest uploads and best-performing videos.

From there for more specific statistics about your videos just click on content and the video of your choice. You will only find videos you have uploaded using the account you’re logged into, but if that’s what you’re looking for nothing beats YouTube’s own data!

On YouTube Studio you can find:

  • Historical Data from the first day your video was posted
  • Subscribers gained from each video
  • Watch time for each viewer
  • Country of origin for each view
  • Total impressions on your thumbnail and title
  • CTR (Click through rate)
  • Source of traffic
  • etc.

In other words, no matter what you need you can most definitely find it there!

How to Find YouTube Data for Other Channels’ Videos

Using a Website

Most people who need YouTube data typically don’t need more information about their own videos, that’s where third-party services come in.

Websites like ViewStats and SocialBlade provide detailed analytics on most YouTube channels completely for free.

Using an Extension

Viewstats also comes with a free Chrome extension that enables you to see YouTube video statistics directly on the video’s page on YouTube.

YouTube API Data

Unfortunately, YouTube’s API only stores very superficial information on videos and doesn’t show any historical data. That being said, the YouTube API can still be a great tool to quickly get basic information about a large number of channels.

There are various ways to access YouTube’s API, these range from third party tools like Channel Crawlers, to directly requesting information using code.
